Trishanta Chetty

Trishanta Chetty is an Associate Principal at Metier and has over 8 years of experience in private equity. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder and has an educational background in finance, having completed a Bachelor of Business Science degree with honours in finance and majors in economics and management studies at the University of KwaZulu Natal.

Trishanta started her career in 2008 at Absa Capital Private Equity and joined Metier’s analyst programme in late 2009. She has a solid understanding of private equity market dynamics and has had exposure to a wide range of transactions, which have developed her relationship management skills, strong analytical skills and sound judgement.

Trishanta works across both the capital growth and sustainable capital practices and her responsibilities include the execution of new deals and the management of existing portfolio companies. As part of her portfolio management responsibilities, she is a director on the boards of portfolio companies.

Grant Howarth

Grant Howarth is an Associate Principal at Metier, in support of the Capital Growth Funds. Grant completed his Bachelor of Business Science in Economics and Masters in Commerce, specialising in financial markets, from Rhodes University.

In 2008, he joined the Monitor Group, an international management consulting firm, during which time he primarily worked in their capital team in support of private equity funds operating across Southern Africa. His responsibilities included managing analysts during a variety of due diligence processes on a number of deals. This allowed Grant to gain exposure to a range of different industries in the region.

As a result of a relationship that was developed with Metier during his time at the Monitor Group, Grant joined the firm in 2009. Since 2009, Grant has been significantly involved in investments in the telecommunications, construction, manufacturing, student accommodation and clothing retail sectors. Further, Grant is playing a coverage role for Metier across Sub-Saharan Africa where he has assessed a number of transactions.

Peter Rowse

Peter Rowse is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder and an Associate at Metier, in support of the Capital Growth Funds. Peter completed his under and postgraduate degrees at Stellenbosch University, specialising in management sciences and financial analysis.

He joined Metier in 2010 as an analyst to gain experience in the financial services and private equity industries. During his time on the analyst programme, Peter developed his skills in transaction research and analysis, financial modelling and investment recommendation processes. Peter was promoted to the role of associate in 2012. Peter’s responsibilities include research and valuation support across the portfolio of investments as well as roles as a director on the boards of Portfolio Companies and as a consultant on specific projects.

Joni Warburton

Joni Warburton completed her under-and postgraduate degrees in accounting and commerce at the University of Johannesburg. She served articles at Grant Thornton in Johannesburg where she qualified as a chartered accountant in 2007.

She then joined the Professional Standards and Risk Management team at Grant Thornton where her responsibilities included ensuring listed and unlisted entities were compliant with IFRS, JSE listing requirements and the Companies Act, advising companies on accounting disclosure requirements, and training on the latest changes in rules and regulations.

Joni joined the Metier team in 2008 as a financial manager of the Metier Group and subsequently took on the role of CFO. She has subsequently taken on a fulltime role in the Metier Sustainable Capital team where she acts as CFO and supports the team with structuring investment opportunities, raising guarantees, research, analysis and evaluation of financial, due diligence and portfolio monitoring activities.

Nasi Rwigema

Manelisi (Nasi) Rwigema completed a BSc and then and MSc in aeronautical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. He began his professional career while completing his undergraduate degree by founding and operating an event management and audio services company which conducted events around South Africa. In 2008 he joined the Aeronautic Systems competency of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in South Africa with a focus on the design and development of unmanned aerial vehicles and military engagements. Through his MSc research in aeroplane propellers and wind turbines, he grew an interest in renewable energy and subsequently joined Metier in 2010 in support of its solar power development subsidiary, Solafrica. In this role Nasi manages the development of solar power plants throughout South Africa.

Khalid Chand

CA (SA), CFA®
Khalid Chand is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder who graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree in 2006. He served his articles at PwC within the Financial Services Insurance and Investment Management division where he qualified as a CA (SA) in 2009.

Khalid was seconded to the Asset Management Division in PwC’s Bermuda offices for two years where he managed the audits of various multinational hedge funds and private equity funds. In 2011 he returned to South Africa to pursue a career in private equity where he met Metier who was in the process of establishing LMSC while planning to bid the Bokpoort CSP project in the Department of Energy’s renewable energy program. Khalid joined Metier as an analyst for LMSC in January 2012 and was promoted to associate in June 2014.

Mike Heyink

Mike Heyink is an Analyst with Metier, in support of the Sustainable Capital Funds. Mike graduated from the University of Cape Town, achieving distinction in his undergraduate degree, a BCom in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, as well as a first class pass in his Honours degree in Economics.

In 2012, he was recruited to join the Monitor Group, a global strategy consulting firm, founded by Michael Porter. Mike gained exposure to a range of industries, during strategic client engagements, including Energy, Infrastructure, Property Development, Mining, and Agriculture. He gained in-country experience in Southern, East and West Africa, as well as Brazil, where he worked together with the Monitor Group’s Sao Paulo team to advise a global infrastructure developer. In 2014, Mike took a year off to explore Latin America, followed by a brief stint with Agis Investments, a spin-off from the Monitor Group, focused on corporate advisory services and investment management.

Mike joined Metier on the Analyst program in August 2015 to pursue his interest in private equity and passion for Sustainability

Tendai Mwanyisa

Msc (Finance)
Tendai Mwanyisa is an Analyst with Metier, in support of the Capital Growth Funds. Tendai completed his undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand specialising in Finance and Economic Science. He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) specialising in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management. He completed his Masters in Finance at IE Business School in Spain.

In 2014, Tendai joined Deloitte Corporate Finance were he gained experience in performing valuations for M&A transactions, fairness and reasonable opinions, indicative valuations, purchase price allocations and impairment tests.

Tendai Joined Metier on the Analyst Programme in November 2015 to pursue his interest to work in private equity.

Paul Olivier

Paul Olivier graduated from Stellenbosch University with a degree in Engineering in 2009. Following this he joined Sasol, on their graduate programme, specifically focusing on business improvement projects.

He joined Sasol's investment and capital governance group in 2012 where he led assurance reviews on local and international capital projects.

A personal interest in entrepreneurship and further studies as part of the Chartered Financial Analyst® programme sparked his interest in private equity. Paul joined Metier on the Analyst programme in January 2016.

Jo-Mari van Zyl

Jo-Mari graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2015, achieving distinction in her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in BCom Investment Management.

She joined Metier in January 2016 as an intern to gain experience across the private equity spectrum from deal sourcing to portfolio management and exits. In this role, she assists with investment research and analysis providing support on valuations and management of portfolio companies. In December 2016 she joined the Analyst Programme.

Jo-Mari is a level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst® exam.

Omid Alimia

Omid is an Analyst at Metier, in support of the Sustainable Capital Practice. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, graduating with an MSc in 2010. He then began his professional career at Sasol, within the large capital projects division, where he spent three years working across a variety of projects in Sasolburg. Thereafter, he was seconded to WorleyParsons in Johannesburg, where he spent one year in the EPC environment.

In 2015, Omid completed his MBA at INSEAD, during which time he lived in France and Singapore. In mid-2016, he completed an internship with Seedstars World, gaining exposure to the startup ecosystem and the venture capital industry in Southern Africa.

Omid joined Metier on the Analyst Programme, in September 2016, to pursue his interest in private equity in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Khwezi Zikalala

CA (SA)
Khwezi Zikalala is a Chartered Accountant who graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in 2012 and obtained her CTA at the University of Johannesburg in 2013.

She completed her articles in 2016 with the Nedbank CA Training Programme in which she gained exposure across various divisions within the Nedbank Group, including working as the Executive Assistant to the Group CFO and a six month secondment to London where she worked in the division that manages interest rate risk.

Her interest in private equity stems from a desire to understand businesses and entrepreneurship at a more granular level. Khwezi joined Metier in January 2017 as part of the Analyst Programme.
